Dementia Cottage Experience

An opportunity to visit a HammondCare service

HammondCare is the Australian leader in dementia design and service provision and we receive frequent requests for visits to our services.

HammondCare’s first priority is the privacy and autonomy of the residents whose homes we run. However, we also recognise our responsibility to share our knowledge and learning in relation to design and the household model of care to support the broader development of dementia and aged care services. The Dementia Cottage Experience is carefully planned to meet both these priorities. It is an invaluable experience for both architects, designers, service commissioners and managers, and direct care staff.

This three-hour workshop includes:

  • Overview of the HammondCare design story and model of care provided in the cottages
  • An introduction to dementia design principles and features
  • A guided tour of a HammondCare site and dementia-specific cottage with a Dementia Consultant
  • Opportunity to ask questions about the environment and the model of care
  • Q&A session
  • Handouts with references and photographs

Groups are limited to 12. Price on application.
