Music speaks: An introduction to music engagement in dementia care

Who is the workshop for?

Anyone involved in the care of people with dementia including care staff, dementia consultants, managers, nurses, allied health staff and community carers.

Workshop overview

Music has the ability not only to elicit positive emotions but also to provide insight into a person’s past and promote connections between staff, families and residents.

With research supporting the use of music in dementia care to improve mood and behaviour, this free workshop will explore how you can use music to improve the wellbeing of people living with dementia.

Dementia Consultant Ashley Roberts, who has over a decade of experience caring for people with dementia and complex needs, joins with Host Sarah Fox, Head of Consulting Services, and HammondCare Dementia Consultants Richard Arthur and Amy Nelson, to share how music engagement can provide joy and help to build meaningful connections with those you care for.

As an interactive workshop, you’ll be encouraged to put your questions to our expert presenters.
