Study Days Workshops
Experiencing Dementia Workshop

The Experiencing Dementia simulation and debriefing exercise aims to provide deeper insights into the experience of dementia. It attempts to provide an experience resembling that of people who have dementia while recognising that there are limits to how much this is possible. This altering of participants’ personal experience seeks to foster positive attitudes and to promote more sensitive care practices when participants interact with individuals who have dementia.

The simulation exercise that lies at the heart of this workshop aims to enable participants to enter into 'the world' of a person who has dementia. Participants are then encouraged to reflect on this experience, their responses to it and what this means for their work with individuals who have dementia.
