How do I sign up? |

Signing up to the Dementia Cafe.OK, so you've decided to join our online community. You now need to register on the site and to do this you need to complete a straightforward membership form and then you are done. Membership form The membership form needs to be completed before you can log in.  If you are a regular user of discussion forums then you may already have an XUP file and you can use that to sign up. Don't worry if you haven't because the form can be used instead. Display Name The display name is like a nickname that you want the other members to know you as. You may make it a fun name or your own name, the choice is yours. Login Name The login name is the name that you will use to login to the Dementia Cafe site. By using a different name to your display name you improve security. It is not seen by other people and so it makes it harder for them to guess your details to try and login as you. Real Name This is not displayed to anybody except the main Dementia Cafe administrators. It is purely to help us in our administration of the Cafe. Password To be able to login you need a password as well as your login name. You must use at least 6 characters and we recommend a mixture of letters and numbers and upper and lower case letters. You need to type it in twice to make sure that you have typed it in correctly. Email Address You need to enter a valid email address (and confirm it in the next box) so that we can, if necessary, get in contact with you or if you wish to be notified of replies to your forum posts, or if you wish to subscribe to our newsletters. Hide Email Address The Dementia Cafe does not disclose your email address to third parties and if you wish to keep your email address private from other members you may do so by selecting the YES button. Timezone Enter the part of the world you are in and the time zone. This enables the Cafe to display certain dates correctly for you. Code Number The image code is unfortunately necessary to stop automatic spam robots posting messages on the website. |
