Facilities

Liverpool Hope and PSS have already started to create a centre of excellence to combine research, advocacy and training and provide real solutions to dementia care. This new physical resource will enable the partnership to take it's activity to a new level and become a national and potentially world leader in this critical area of health care and well being. Listed below are some of the facilities that will be made available when the new building is open.

Conference Suite

It is suggested that this would house a conference suite that could be split into three separate rooms with state-of-the-art facilities to accomodate up to 150 people. Two further breakout / training rooms to seat 50 people and catering could also be arranged.

PSS Dementia Journey

Using the award-winning PSS Dementia Journey Course as a vehicle to extend and develop learning within a simulated apartment setting; highlighting the obstacles and barriers when carrying out everyday tasks.

Demonstration Room

This would be used to showcase practical solutions for people with dementia and their carers and used as an example of environmental design and technologies to provide dementia-friendly design in practice. It would be used to highlight a safe and well-designed living space, which is a key part of providing the best care for people with dementia. Items such as alarms, sensors, cutlery, beds, and any other item which could improve life for people with dementia will be on display.

Tours of the Building

Tours of the building will be available, e.g. visits to the Demonstration Room to gain inspiration for design projects which support people with dementia. These tours will give a taste of what is considered to be the main principles of dementia-friendly design and showcase some examples of how these an be adopted in various settings.

Sensory Garden

An outdoor space offering a sensory garden, which can be easily navigated and incorporated into the design to highlight good practice.

Sensory Room

Opportunity to arrange OT assessments.
