The Health, Care and Science Centre

Our ultimate aim is to have a centre for the North West to extend and improve services for people with dementia and their carers. This is consistent with both a regional and a national agenda around knowledge transfer. This model which combines front line and academic expertise will bring together and enhance existing resources and practices in preparation for the future demand on services and for a specialist skilled workforce.

This new initiative seeks to address some of the most challenging issues of health, care and science - all of which have significant economic as well as social consequences for the well being of the North West region and beyond. Our aim is to provide a centre that will be staffed by academics, PSS health and social care professionals, researchers, volunteers and administration staff to provide a comprehensive dementia education, training, consultancy and research service. The centre will be inclusive and other commercials partners will be invited. The centre will offer a model for dementia-friendly design, creating an open and welcoming environment.

Liverpool Hope University has a sound track record of delivering innovatory and challenging initiatives which impact on the socio-economic life in the North West region. These have included a range of regeneration as well as enterprising initiatives which have all impacted on the social inclusion agenda.

PSS is a dynamic social enterprise providing community social and health care services across England, Central Scotland and North Wales. PSS is a regional / national leader in addressing issues related to dementia, winning two National Awards for their Dementia Training and Dementia Services in 2009.
