Research

Until recent years, research into Dementia, it's causes, available therapies, prevention, and cure, have been limited. With the number of people diagnosed as having Dementia on the rise, and forecasts indicating that this will increase dramatically in the next few decades, there has been a call throughout the health sector for more investment to be made available for Dementia related research.
It can currently take five to ten years to turn research into a new therapy, drug or cure, so it is important that substancial research is initiated to ensure that there are suitable, effective treatments in the future.
Organisations such as The Alzheimer's Society, Sterling University's Dementia Services Development Centre, and the London Centre for Dementia Care have all made ground-breaking progress in the field of Dementia research and continue to bring together academic, statutory and voluntary sectors for this purpose.
PSS have been working in partnership with Liverpool Hope University and some research work has already been done into Dementia.
