Training
Here you will find information on many courses offered at PSS. These include courses that can be particularly helpful whether you are just generally interested in learning some new skills, whether you need some new skills and knowledge to help you in your job as a carer, or if you are a health professional looking to learn more about Dementia.

PSS Training Unit have developed a comprehensive range of training courses for those working in the field of social care at all levels including basic and intermediate courses for support workers and carers, general courses, management courses and IT.
Our courses have been developed in-house by qualified trainers who also have years of experience on the front line in social care, and many of our courses are accredited by external bodies.
PSS has been approved to deliver training by the following organisations:
City and Guilds (Health Trainer Certificate, LDQ)
British Computer Society (ECDL, Advanced ECDL Word Processing and e-type)

Royal Society for Public Health (Understanding Health Improvements Level 2)
In 2009 PSS won the following training awards
Best Provider of Learning and Development in the Skills for Care Awards 2009 for their 'Supporting the Dementia Journey' training.
The Judges commented that the training has an exciting, innovative and sophisticated approach to dementia training, and is executed to a high standard. Judges were impressed by use of the Virtual Dementia Journey, involvement of service users, online support of the internet cafe and focus on behaviour change. The way they describe what they do is tremendously authentic and the model would be of great interest to other training providers.
The Care Trainer award in the Great North West Care Awards 2009.
PSS were finalists in 2 categories and won the Care Trainer Award in recognition of their support of people with dementia and their carers. The award acknowledges the importance of the trainer within the care service and is awarded to an individual or team who shows incredible enthusiasm and determination in identifying and delivering training that addresses the development of care staff.
You may choose to attended one of our scheduled events, arrange to have an existing course delivered in-house to your organisation, or we can tailor a course that is designed specifically to meet your business needs.
