The choice of medication that is used to treat Dementia will vary depending on the individual's personal circumstances and the type of Dementia they have been diagnosed with. The medication is usually prescribed to work in conjunction with additional, non drug-based treatments. Each type of medication can produce side effects which again, will vary in their effect and intensity depending on the individual. The types of medication prescribed will need constant supervision, monitoring, and review during the course of treatment as some drugs will only be effective at specific stages as the Dementia develops. No medication should be taken without being prescribed by a health professional.
