Dr Sharon Andrews, Consultant

Dr Andrews has been involved with the residential aged care sector as an academic and a Registered Nurse for 15 years. Her PhD investigated strategies for developing the practices of aged care staff to support a palliative approach to care for people with advanced dementia. Sharon was a 2010 National Health and Medical Research Council, Translating Research into Practice Fellow and has undertaken extensive research and practice development projects in the residential aged care sector, specifically in dementia care and palliative care.

Dr Davina Poulos, Research Assistant

After completing her PhD, Davina joined HammondCare in 2016 as a Data Analyst/Research Assistant in the Dementia Centre. She primarily supports the work of Dementia Support Australia, and is passionate about using data to inform processes, decisions, and research. Davina is excited to be part of a service providing support to people with dementia, their families and carers all over Australia, to improve their quality of life.

Dr Catriona Lorang, Psychologist, Residential Aged Care Facility

Dr. Catriona Lorang is a registered psychologist, with a PhD in psychology and a Master of Rehabilitation Counseling. With her PhD she focused on the clinical problems of depression and anxiety. Her areas of expertise include behaviour management strategies for people with severe dementia, depression, anxiety and pain management.

Dr Julie Bajic, Project Officer

Dr Julie Bajic Smith graduated from the University of Newcastle in psychology in 2004 and worked in occupational rehabilitation for seven years, prior to setting up a psychological consultancy in aged care. Julie has developed several award-winning wellness programs for older adults, she coordinates family support groups and delivers staff training for aged care workers. Julie’s PhD investigated the emotional and psychological wellbeing of home care workers and she brings to her role as a Project Officer at HammondCare mixed-methods research skills investigating supported-decision making for individuals with dementia.
