A/Prof Colm Cunningham, Director

MSc (Dementia Studies) BN BSocWk

Formerly the Deputy Director of UK Dementia Services Development Centre, Colm’s research focus and expertise are in pain management, environmental design that supports people with dementia, dementia and delirium, dementia and intellectual disabilities and night care.
Colm is widely published and is also a Conjoint Associate Professor at the University of New South Wales in the School of Public Health and Community Medicine, a visiting fellow in dementia design and practice at the University of Edinburgh School of Health in Social Science and a member of the Wicking Strategic Review Panel in Australia.

Marie Alford, Head of Implementation Dementia Centre

With a background in social work, community services, leadership, advocacy, training and management, Marie Alford has a strong commitment to social justice and consumer engagement. Previously the Director of the South Australian and Northern Territory Dementia Training Study Centre, she comes to the Dementia Centre at HammondCare with experience in project development, managing research projects and a passion for knowledge translation and practice.

Janine MacDonald, Head of Operations

A Registered Nurse for over 30 years Janine has held senior management roles across the acute, aged and community care and NGO sectors. She comes to the Dementia Centre, HammondCare with a strong commitment to driving service development, engaging complex stakeholder networks, the provision of clinical leadership, consumer advocacy and the development and implementation of best-practice models of care.

A/Prof Stephen Macfarlane, Head of Clinical Services

Dr Steve Macfarlane graduated from Monash University in 1991 and spent the next 17 years at Peninsula Health, prior to becoming a psychiatrist in 2003 and being appointed Director of Aged Psychiatry in 2005. In 2008 he spent some time on secondment as Deputy Chief Psychiatrist for Victoria prior to being appointed as Associate professor and Director of Aged Psychiatry at Alfred Health, where he remained until formally joining HammondCare in 2016 as Head of Clinical Governance for The Dementia Centre.

Meredith Gresham, Head of Research & Design

Meredith is an Occupational Therapist and Head of Research and Design for HammondCare’s Dementia Centre. Meredith has received a number of recent grants including a Department of Health and Ageing Grants for Aged Care Service Improvement and Healthy Ageing Flexible Funds, and Encouraging Best Practice in Residential Aged Care. She has been involved in research investigation to promote better end-of-life experience for people with dementia and their families, seating in advanced dementia, and novel bidet technology in the management of incontinence. Meredith leads the Dementia Centre's Design portfolio, providing consultancy on evidence based dementia design and leading the Australian Dementia Design Schools.

Peter Morgan-Jones, Executive Chef

Peter has cooked for the British Royal Family and alongside some of Australia’s best-known chefs and is now HammondCare’s Executive Chef and Food Ambassador. Peter began working with HammondCare in 2012 after five years as Head Chef at the Art Gallery of NSW. Other culinary highlights include working in top restaurants in Bermuda, Germany and London as well as some of Sydney’s most iconic restaurants including Gay Bilson’s Bennelong at the Opera House, the three-hat MG Garage with Janni Kyritsis and his own one-hat Clock Hotel Restaurant.
